The Week of Thanksgiving- the boys

Happy Thanksgiving eve! Isaac and Leah are very excited because they have a six-day fall break that begins today, Micah has school today and then we get to relax until next Tuesday. Other than our normal Thanksgiving traditions here we are not planning anything spectacular, just being together and enjoying the rest.

Isaac and Micah’s interviews are below. Remember, I didn’t coach or edit answers. It is amazing to me how different each of the kids responded when asked the same questions.

We are grateful to God for Isaac, he is our first kiddo, a protector of his younger siblings, and has such a curious mind that always keeps me on my toes.

What is Thanksgiving? “A day when you give thanks to God.”

What is your favorite Thanksgiving food? “Turkey, Thanksgiving pudding, and Thanksgiving potatoes you know the sweet potatoes.”  (Thanksgiving pudding is green jello salad.)

What is your favorite Thanksgiving tradition? “What does that mean? Oh- going to Grandma and Grandpa’s house with our family.”

Tell me five things your thankful for:

1. Our church.

2. Our family.

3. Our food.

4. Our beds.

5. Our house.

Micah’s turn:

What is Thanksgiving? “Ah, I don’t know.”

What is your favorite Thanksgiving food? “I don’t know. Jelly. Just jelly, but I will want more food there than jelly.”

What is your favorite Thanksgiving tradition? “I don’t know. I don’t know. I don’t know.”

Tell me five things your thankful for:

1. My family.

2. For not getting sick on the airplane to Germany.

3. My toys.

4. Cookies we bought at school.

5. My Pokemon.

Have you ever heard the saying “What if you only had today what you thanked God for yesterday?” I cannot remember where I heard it, but when I listen to Micah pray I know he’d be well off. He sits down and thanks God for anything and everything he can think of. He challenges my heart to be more grateful in the day-to-day, such a gift.

Have a very happy Thanksgiving. May your hearts be filled with gratitude and may joy and love abound.

Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever. Psalm 118:29
